Great time at Cub Family Campout
We had an awesome turnout for the Cub Family Campout and Camporee! There were 71 people camping and quite a few more coming out for the Bobcat ceremony and evening campfire.
The KC Star has a slideshow with several of our Pack family members: http://www.kansascity.com/2011/10/14/3208037/boy-scout-camporee-at-olathe-lake.html
The weather was perfect; beautiful evening, cool night with an almost full moon, and a warm layer peeling morning. The morning activities were a hit and we went home smiling and reminded of the fun and experiences that Cub Scouting has to offer.
Please contact Scott Valler (scott@scottvaller.com) if you have pictures from the campout that we can post.
Cub Family Campout/Camporee – Final Notes
Meet at Liberty View at 4:30 PM on October 14th with all your camping gear to caravan out to Lake Olathe. The district campout is at Lake Olathe on the old golf course.
Address and Directions – 2300 West Golf Course Road. You can either take 135th (Santa Fe) West past K-7 (Parker) then turn South on Ward Cliff Drive into Lake Olathe. Then follow the signs to the campout. Or you can take 143rd West, under I-35 to third round about, then Dennis past K-7 (Parker) to Ward Cliff Drive and turn North – there is less traffic that way. Both ways Ward Cliff Drive is not well marked, so you might want to print yourself a map off the internet just in case.
Plan to eat prior to coming, or bring your dinner with you. Read more…
We had a great time camping
Our Pack Family Campout at Cedar Lake was a blast. We had a nice group of families come out. The weather was beautiful and the night cooled down for perfect sleeping. We played, sang songs, had a great campfire, cooked marshmallows and made smores, and generally had an awesome time.
If you didn’t make it this year, please plan on coming out next year. We always have our Pack Family Campout in June.
Pack Summer-Time Campout (Updated)
What: Pack 3241 Pack Family Camp Out
When: Friday June 24th, Saturday June 25th
Where: Cedar Lake Camp Ground 15500 S. Lone Elm Road Olathe KS 66061 (west of the great mall)
Who: Scouts and their Families
Plan to arrive at the campsite around 6:00 on Friday June 24th and enjoy a night of camping with fellow scouts from our pack. This is “car camping” and a very easy campout. Please bring dinner for your family and if you plan to hang around in the morning and fish you might want to pack something for breakfast. The pack will provide everything we need for smores.
You may wish to bring camp chairs, drinks, tent, flash lights, light sleeping bags, sleeping pads, etc. We will play some games, take a night-time hike, sing some songs, have a campfire and cook smores!
RSVP — Please be courteous and RSVP to this event even if you are not planning on attending. It makes it much easier for the organizer to prepare for the event when we know who is and who is not participating.. Thanks you in advance for extending us this courtesy.
Day Camp workshop
This Tuesday, May 17th at 6:30 p.m. we will meet in the LVE cafeteria to work on the things we need for Day Camp as well as answer questions and generally make sure we are ready. It is very important that you and your son attend this meeting if you are going to Day Camp!
Webelos Woods 2011
This year our third grade (Bears) and fourth grade (Webelos I) Scouts will have the opportunity to attend Webelos Woods, April 15-16. This is a great camping experience with tons of fun. Troop 85 is sponsoring the event this year and the theme is “Wacky Science”. All activities will count towards Webelos rank advancement (the Bears can put in their Webelos handbook.) Troop 85 always puts on a great program with very good food.
Please attend this event if at all possible. Talk with your Den leaders to get more information and sign-up.
