Get ready for a really great time camping! Our Pack Family Campout will be Saturday, June 2nd at Cedar Lake. We will unlock the gates at 4:00 p.m. for families to come out and start setting up their tents. We will head out Sunday morning.

This is true car camping and very easy. You can setup your tent next to your car if you like and you don’t need much. Bring your tent, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, chairs, water bottles, flash lights, bug spray, and dinner.

We will put up a small campfire if you wish to cook hot dogs or other food for dinner about 5:30 p.m. There will be an evening campfire with smores and singing. I’ll provide the smores, you try to find a fun repeat after me camp song or put together a short skit.

It is okay to come out for the evening and not stay to camp. Note, to get the “Summer Time Pack Activity Award” you need to attend all three summer Pack activities: June is camping, July is swimming at Blackbob Park water park, August is the Ice Cream Social up at LVE.

Breakfast will be pancakes, turkey bacon and orange juice. Please RSVP to Scott Valler (scott@scottvaller.com) so I know how much food to purchase.

Bring chairs, favorite topping (to share) and water bottles.

The Pack will provide bowls, spoons, napkins, ice cream, syrups and whipped-cream.

We will also have some guests from one of our neighborhood Troops to meet the boys and be available to answer questions about Boy Scouting.

See your Den leader if you don’t have your boat kit yet. We do allow catamaran style boats. We will be using real rain gutters so make sure they fit. The races will be single elimination with the overall winner getting a huge high five. The races are a ton of fun!

This is a great way for girls to get the outdoor experience they crave. Minimum age to join is 14 years of age, or 13 years of age and completion of the eighth grade. If your daughter is there or even close you will want to bring her to this meeting.

Venturing gives girls the opportunity to go camping, climbing, hiking, canoeing, biking, horse back riding, SCUBA diving, sailing, shooting, etc. My daughter is continuously telling me she wants to do what the boys are doing and now she can.

The chance to learn about Venturing and ask lots of questions of the girls and leaders is Thursday, May 3rd at 7:00 p.m. Go to the College Church of the Nazarene, Cunningham Family Life Center, 2nd floor and go to the left once on the floor – you can’t miss it. We are rescheduling Clean Streams trash collection and neighborhood beautification for this Sat, April 21st from 8:00-2:00p. The weather forecast looks like it will be much nicer than last weekend.

Please come at your convenience to pick up trash bags, gloves, and sign-in on the roster sheet at the Kempker’s house then walk to Amesbury Lake and pick up trash. Please leave all trash bags in or next to actual trash cans so the city of Overland Park can easily remove them.

We need your help getting all the required forms in by end of day on Wednesday, MAY 2nd. Attached you will find the Health Form PDF that you can complete by typing in answers to the highlighted fields. You must complete a form for EVERY CAMPER AND ADULT VOLUNTEER attending camp. This does not include family members who will ONLY attend on family night (Wednesday 4:00-7:00 pm). Please be sure that ALL fields (except immunizations – only date of last Tetanus required for Day Camp) are completed or the form will be rejected and returned to us for completion. Once you have completed the form you can email it to me and I’ll look it over to ensure completed correctly. Then you can print/sign HEALTH FORM and COPY OF FRONT AND BACK OF MEDICAL INSURANCE CARD and mail/drop off to me or put in the Pack 3241 envelope in the LVE office by 4:00 pm on Wednesday, May 2nd.

We are required to have 4 Walking Leaders (with boys at all times to ensure safety) and 1 Staffer (to help run the planned programs -we are signed up to help with Disc Golf) EVERY DAY. With 20 boys signed up, 1 adult from each family is needed to volunteer at least 1 day of the week as a Walking Leader. Additional days would be greatly appreciated! For the Staffer position, it would be ideal to have 1 person volunteer all week or 2 people share the position. Please let me know right away what days you prefer and/or absolutely cannot volunteer so that we can do our best to accommodate everyone’s schedule.
